Yes, that’s right, Mr. McCarthy is away again. My JNN crew is shooting Every 15 Minutes today. Pay attention to this weeks assignment: You are to create an animated Movie Production Logo in After Effects. This will be due Friday. Here is a link to a short video filled with examples from last year’s class. Aim for your best work! To figure out what style or effect you want to create, search “After Effects Animated Logos” and sift through the various tutorials until you find the one you want to emulate.
OK? Don’t waste time getting started!

Regarding the two tutorials from last week: you are required to complete only one. Complete two for extra credit! Be sure to work on Movie Production Logo first! What is your production company’s name?

This is Mr. McCarthy, signing off!

Thursday/Friday, April 4 & 5
For today’s class, I want you to complete the After Effects Tutorial: Particles Text Effect that we began last class period. If you finish this, you are to move on to Smoke Text Effects. I look forward to viewing your After Effects projects on Monday and Tuesday next week!

Wednesday, April 4
Now that you’ve been introduced to After Effects by Terry White, go ahead and upload your rendered project to your YouTube channel. Name this assignment “After Effects 1.” Next, it’s time to build your first personal After Effects project. Follow this tutorial carefully with your eyes and, instead of placing the word “TEXT,” put your first name. When you finish, upload your rendered project to your YouTube channel.

By the time you finish the video, you should have a beginning understanding of the basics of After Effects, including starting a project and rendering your finished work.

For this assignment use footage in which you appear (edit footage of yourself writing or drawing at the table)

Explore “Video Effects” folder in “Effects” tab.

Explore the many Video Effects by applying them to video clips in which you appear. Present 10 Video Effects that you find interesting and/or appealing. You can apply these 10 to the same clip of yourself, over and over. Your overall goal is to explore all of the Video Effects in the multiple folders. The goal that involves turning in an assignment is to simply to show 10 different effects on 10 clips. Keep all 10 on the same timeline.
